Society for Music Perception and Cognition Meeting

We warmly invite you to sunny San Diego for SMPC 2017! SMPC 2017 will be held on campus at the University of California, San Diego. Our lovely campus is a short (but precipitous!) walk to the beach on the west, and framed by mountains to the east.

More information, including conference submissions and travel info, will be posted on the SMPC Conference website as it becomes available.

Through this website you can register for the conference and associated events, as well as reserve on-campus housing. After reviewing the information, click on the blue “Register Now” button. We strongly recommend joining SMPC before you register, since this will save you $20 at registration!

Important Notes
Only on-campus housing reservations can be made through this reservation system. If you would like to stay at an off-campus hotel, you will need to secure your own reservations.

Early registration will run until 6/15/2017 11:59pm Pacific Time. Late registration will run from 6/16 12:00am to 7/21/2017 11:59pm Pacific Time. After this time registration will be on-site only during the conference. If you are the presenting author, you must register by 7/1/2017.

Online Registration opens 4/25/2017 at 12:00am Pacific Time

Payment Policy
100% payment is due at the time of registration. Payment method is by credit card: American Express, Discover Card, MasterCard, and Visa. Please enter the credit card to be charged the above amount. The mandatory CCV code is the last 3 digits printed on the reverse side of the credit cards and 4 digits printed on the front of American Express cards.

Cancellation Policy & Deadlines

  • Cancellations must be submitted in writing via email to meetings@ucsd.edu.
  • All cancellations are subject to loss of the administration fee(s): $15 for Conference Registration, $10 Housing Reservation.
  • Cancellations before or on 05/31/2017, registrants will receive a full refund for conference and/or housing fees, less administration fee(s).
  • Cancellations made 6/1/2017 - 7/14/2017, registrant will forfeit 50% of their housing and/or conference fees, less administration fee(s).
  • Cancellations made on or 7/15/2017, registrant will forfeit full fees for conference and/or housing fees.
  • Full refunds or partial refunds will not be processed for registrants who choose to leave their program early.
  • Payment made for registrations may not be transferred from one annual meeting to another. All cancellations policies apply.
  • Refunds may take up to thirty (30) days to be processed.
  • For cancellations and refund policy for the local hotel, please refer to their website.

Room Rates and Accommodations

  • Private Bedroom in a Shared Apartment - $67.50
  • Shared Bedroom in a Shared Apartment - $46.50

Housing accommodations are located in the Warren Apartments on the UC San Diego Campus. All apartment units have two (2) bedrooms, shared bathroom, a living room and kitchen. (No kitchenware provided).

Shared Bedroom Rate has two people per bedroom.

If you are part of a couple/pair travelling together that would like to be housed in an apartment with only yourselves as occupants, both must select Private Bedroom and indicate each other's names in the Apartment Mate/Roommate field.

On campus housing is organized with up to four (4) persons of the same gender. You will be able to requests specific apartment mates during the registration process.

Included in the Nightly Housing Rate:

  • On-Campus accommodations in a Private Bedroom or Shared Bedroom.
  • Beds are made upon arrival with one (1) blanket and one (1) pillow.
  • One (1) set of towels that can be refreshed upon request during stay.
  • Clothing hangers, portable fan, and toiletries.
  • Service includes twice (2) weekly cleaning of common areas and trash removal.
  • Internet (Wireless not guaranteed).

Not included in Housing Rate:

  • Air-conditioning in Housing areas
  • Parking (Permits are sold separately and will be available to purchase in advance starting May of 2017)
  • Meals

Important Accommodation Registration Information:

  • UC San Diego is a smoke-free campus.
  • All guests must comply with “Rules and Safety Regulations”.
  • Accommodations are assigned by gender. If you would like to have a mixed gender unit, you must indicate you are fine with mixed gendered apartments and roommates will need to request each other and indicate they are fine with the cohabitation. 

The earliest check-in date is Thursday, 7/27/2017. The latest check-out date is Friday, 8/4/2017.

Check-in time is after 4:00pm on arrival date, check-out time is by 11:00am on departure date.

Kickoff Event and Reception
7/30/17 1:00pm-7:00pm, $40 Early Registration or $60 Late Registration

Kickoff event is Sunday July 30th Price Center West Ballroom B from 1:00pm-5:00pm. Reception follows in Price Center Plaza from 5:00pm-7:00pm, one drink ticket included.

Kickoff Event and Reception is included in the conference registration, however, register for it separately if they only want to attend the kickoff.

Additional tickets to the Kickoff Event and Reception can be purchased during the registration process.

Not included in Conference Registration, but is included in the FULL Registration. 

To complete your registration, you must create a login for the registration process. This login will allow you access to your reservation(s) for changes such as date changes, roommate/Apartment Mate updates, and it will also allow you to create multiple reservations under one unique login identification, etc.

Registering Multiple Conference Attendees Under One Login Account
Use this option if you are registering more than one person for the conference/meeting and are paying the Conference/Meeting Registration Fees for these people. By using this option, you are using one login account to manage all registrations. Access your account by logging in here and selecting the “Registrations” option from the menu (Noted by the red box below). Once you are here, you may select “Create Additional Registration” next to the completed registration (noted by the purple box below). Continue through the registration process through to payment.
